Sam Rockwell took his role as a flustered science teacher a bit too seriously on “Saturday Night Live.”
The Golden Globe-winning actor dropped an F-bomb while failing to explain the density of oil and water during his first sketch as host Saturday night.
“Just pour the oil into the water. The oil is … Josh, you can’t be f–king this stupid,” Rockwell blurted out. “Sorry. Kids aren’t stupid. Just say what you see. Just look at it.”
Cast members Cecily Strong and Mikey Day, portraying two young children during the “Science Room” sketch, exaggerated their shock after hearing the profane slip and continued with the show.
It’s unclear if Rockwell intended to use the F-word.

In another sketch, Kate McKinnon’s portrayal of Rockwell’s “Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri,” castmate, Frances McDormand, responded to the awards show decision to bleep a part of her acceptance speech.
“It happens. I’m not cursing. It’s just the tone of my voice,” McKinnon said as the film’s star.
Rockwell won best supporting actor for Martin McDonagh’s film.
