Russell Brand believes the busy work that comes with being famous may have been the ultimate foe in his fallout with ex-wife Katy Perry.
The English comedian and actor discussed the details during an interview with John Bishop on the W Channel this week.
“Katy was obviously very, very occupied and busy. I was occupied and busy but not to the same degree,” Brand told Bishop. “The marriage didn’t last for a very long time and I think that is due to the undulating nature of fame, living in those conditions.”
Despite the “Army of One” actor’s prior attacks on Perry, claiming she was “vapid, vacuous and plastic” and admitting he had to think of “anyone” else but her during sex — Brand revealed the fond feelings he once had for her haven’t completely faded.
Russell Brand (L) and Katy Perry arrive for the European premiere of the film ‘Arthur’ in London April 19, 2011.
“I have come away from that experience and I still feel very warm towards her … When I hear about her or see her, I think ‘Ah, there’s that person, that person in the world,'” he added.
In the July 2013 issue of Vogue, pop star Perry described details on the doomed marriage a bit differently.
“Let’s just say I haven’t heard from him since he texted me saying he was divorcing me December 31, 2011,” Perry revealed.
“He started making jokes about me and he didn’t know I was in the audience because I had come to surprise him at one of his shows.”
The “Rise” singer recalled Brand as a once “magical man” she fell madly in love with when the couple wed back in 2010.
