Jordana Brewster refects on friendship with Paul Walker

Jordana Brewster wasn’t brought back for the latest “Fast & Furious” film after her co-star Paul Walker’s death, but the actress likes to imagine their characters, Mia and Brian, got a storybook ending.

“(She’s) with Brian, so I can’t think of a better place for her to be,” Brewster told ABC News on Thursday. “In the seventh one, Mia was pregnant with a girl. So, I imagine they’re on some island, on some idyllic island, just living the life.”

Walker’s tragic death in a one-car crash in 2013 ultimately meant Brewster wouldn’t return for the upcoming “The Fate of the Furious,” as the last movie ended with her and Walker’s characters – who were married – leaving their longtime group to raise a family.

And while Brewster has previously speculated she could return for future installments, it’s unclear what the film’s makers have in mind.

“The Fate of the Furious” will be the first installment not to feature Walker and Brewster since the fourth entry to the series, “Fast & Furious,” which premiered in 2009.

Brewster reflected on her time in franchise with ABC, revealing that while she had fond memories with many co-stars, it was her comradery with Walker off the screen that really stood out.

“I love Vin, I love Michelle … but my friendship with Paul was definitely the highlight because he was the best guy,” Brewster told ABC News. “So, the bond I had with him was definitely the best part.”

Walker’s longtime co-stars have regularly paid tribute to him in interviews and on social media since his untimely passing.

Earlier this week, Vin Diesel choked up as he spoke about Walker during a surprise screening of the new movie at CinemaCon in Las Vegas.

“Part of Paul’s legacy lives through every frame that we shoot,” he told the crowd. You are reminded of this angel that was so integral to this concept of brotherhood for our millennium. There’s something beautiful about that. There’s something celebratory about that.”

The new “Fast & Furious” movie — which stars Diesel, Dwayne (The Rock) Johnson and Michelle Williams — is due for theaters on April 14.
