In a sweet sisterly reunion, Jamie Lynn Spears surprised older sister Britney with the Icon Award at the Radio Disney Music Awards Saturday night.
The younger Spears presented the Mickey Mouse Club graduate with the award, created to “recognize a distinguished artist whose career transcends popular culture and whose music is loved by generations of Radio Disney fans.”
“What a pleasant surprise, my goodness!” Britney said on stage, according to Us Weekly.
“This is such an honor. I want to thank Radio Disney so much for giving me their first-ever Icon Award. What can I say? This is such an honor! Your support throughout my career has meant so much to me.”
Show hosts Kelsea Ballerini and Sofia Carson, along with Hailee Steinfeld, opened the award presentation with a medley of Spears’ hits before Jamie Lynn joined them on stage.
Britney Spears also thanked her fans and sons Sean Preston, 11, and Jayden James, 10, during her acceptance speech, according to Us Weekly.
Jamie Lynn’s appearance at the show marks one of her first public showing’s since 8-year-old daughter Maddie’s ATV accident in February that left her unconscious for two days.
Maddie flipped her ATV in early February while swerving to avoid a drainage ditch in Kentwood, La.
She was submerged underwater for more than two minutes, trapped by her seatbelt, before paramedics were able to free her and airlift her to a local New Orleans hospital.
The Radio Disney Music Awards air Sunday at 7 p.m. on the Disney Channel.
